RELATED PROJECTS AND MONITORING
Communities and Nature (CAN)
Co-ordinated by Countryside
Council for Wales, like the Valleys Regional Park ERDF project, CAN is one of the
strategic projects under Environment for Growth (Priority 4, Theme 3) of the Convergence
programme.
The Valleys area is not eligible for funding under this project other than through
the Wild Fishing Wales element. This is led by Environment Agency Wales with significant
elements being delivered by community groups throughout the Convergence area including,
in particular, the new local Rivers Trusts and riparian land owners.
CADW Heritage Tourism
The £19m project will maximise the economic value of heritage
through increasing the volume, length and value of visits to Wales and ensure that
Wales' outstanding heritage is more accessible and enjoyable to visit - both for
visitors and people who live in Wales.
Heads of the Valleys Tourism
This project seeks to establish the Heads of the Valleys
area as a successful day visitor destination, extracting maximum economic value from
a range of tourism sites contributing to a sustainable future for the host communities.
Among the projects are:
• Dare Valley Country Park
• Bedwellty House and Park
• General
Office (Genealogy Centre), Ebbw Vale
• (Heads of the) Valleys Cycle Network (with
Sustrans)
• Pontypool and Blaenafon Railway, Blaenafon

This project seeks to implement key, eligible elements
of the sustainable tourism strategy including the Cycling Centre of Excellence developed
by Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council, Forestry Commission Wales, Caerphilly

Visit Wales Coastal Tourism
