PROJECTS PROGRESS - March 1 2011

As announced at the recent implementation group meeting held in Cwmcarn, forty-four infrastructure projects have been now given funding approval in principle through joint project sponsors including 5 umbrella projects. Of these, 19 have full approval with 11 in progress. Five projects have now been completed, including Greenmeadow Farm Eye Paddock in Cwmbran (shown right). The total project funding for it was £128K with £45K funding coming from the VRP ERDF programme. The improvements are projected to bring in an extra 2000 visitors.Full details of the projects given approval can be found here.

By coincidence, 44 heritage, interpretation and events projects have been given approval in priniciple, the list for which is available here

 

AMBASSADOR TRAINING UNDERWAY - March 1 2011

The first ambassador training courses have got underway very successfully and the participants at Pontardawe had a great time. An entertaining report on the day’s event is given by Gareth Kiddie in the latest VRP newsletter.

KIDWELLY QUAY WORK BEGINS - March 1 2011

Work has commenced on the quay area in Kidwelly which is set to get a £100,000 plus makeover. The project is a partnership between Carmarthenshire Council and Kidwelly Town Council, which was  successful in obtaining funding for a Phase 1 scheme from Valleys Regional Park and the Assembly Government.

 

Existing footpaths are being enhanced along with new footpaths created to offer a more varied series of walks from the quay and around Kymer's canal. In addition, the car park is to be reconstructed.
